Ce dessin intervient après la réalisation que je suis quasiment incapable de créer un portrait ressemblant. 
Etant donné que j’ai l’intention de poursuivre les portraits, cela devient essentiel de s’entraîner à affuter mon regard pour tenter de reproduire fidèlement les visages. Ce dessin de James Dean sert cet objectif (pas encore complètement atteint !), tout comme Angelina Jolie l’année suivante.
Being completely unable to offer a likeness of the characters in my drawn portraits, it’s about time I tried to exercise and sharpen my eyes and my pencils with that goal in mind. That’s what this James Dean portrait is for (not quite there yet), the same goes for Angelina Jolie the next year.
